Bachelor/Master Thesis / Internship: Orbital Refueling Coupler

Who we are

We are deltaVision GmbH. We develop, produce, and qualify fluid control systems for aerospace and space. In 2022, we founded the company to become a premium supplier of Fluid-Control sub-systems. In 2025 we lead this market in Europe. We feed our customers with innovative products, cost-effectiveness, and lead time that no traditional player has ever seen. With our knowledge on fluid-control for space systems we are shaping the space economy towards refuellable and re-usable spacecrafts.

Your mission

As part of our Systems Engineering team in Munich, Germany, you will contribute to the development and testing of a fluidic coupler for on-orbit refueling. This role provides both the opportunity for theoretical design work and trade-offs, as well as testing of complex hardware. The position is planned for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension. We also offer the opportunity to convert the work into a Master’s thesis, with the exact topic tailored to the candidate’s interests and strengths.

Your role will include:

  • Assist in conceptual analysis and design trade-offs on fluidic couplers.
  • Contributing to mechanical modeling and structural analysis, using CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Contribute to the extension of internal Python-based tools used for fluidic coupler design.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and thermal analysis for fluidic couplers.
  • Conduct simulations to predict the behavior of fluids inside the fluidic coupler.
  • Participate in MAIT (Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration, and Testing) processes for the fluidic coupler.
  • Preparing documentation for the deliverables inside the fluidic coupler-related projects

Your profile

  • Enrolled in a Master’s or advanced Bachelor’s student in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related field
  • Knowledge of in-space propulsion-related fluids and fluidic systems and an interest in complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with structural and thermal considerations and space materials is expected. Knowledge of material compatibility is optional.
  • Good to have knowledge of ECSS standards such as ECSS-E-ST-32-02C, ECSS-E-ST-32-10C, and ECSS-E-ST-33-01C
  • Propulsion fundamentals and knowledge in the testing of space propulsion hardware are recommended
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Proactive, structured, and able to work independently and in a team

We Offer

  • Bachelor/Master Thesis or Internship, can be mandatory or voluntary
  • Above-average remuneration
  • Guided but self-determined problem solving to realize your ideas
  • Deep dive into the domain of commercial spaceflight and mobility
  • Flexible entry date, the sooner the better with Flexible working hours
  • Company benefits like transportation allowance and sports club memberships (EGYM Wellpass)
